2019 PÁŠXA RIVER ROCK VINEYARD SYRAH

“Lots of blueberries, mulberries, orange blossom, violets, and ample minerality emerge from the 2019 Syrah River Rock Vineyard, a concentrated, inward, yet beautifully textured, full-bodied Syrah in the making. It’s a little less expressive aromatically yet brings everything you could want from Syrah on the palate. It’s another killer wine. “

“Another killer Syrah from winemaker Todd Alexander, this one is the second release from the Rocks District and wow, it is spectacular. It’s a perfect example of Washington Syrah done right – aromas of blueberry, wild blackberry, smoked brisket, black olive, ground peppercorn but still very floral and fresh on the nose. This is a wine that grabs you by the shirt collar, shakes you to pay attention and doesn’t let you go. It forces you to experience something new every time you put your nose in the glass. The acidity is medium to high, the alcohol level is restrained, the tannins are silky and wonderfully integrated, and the wine shows perfect balance between the luscious fruit and the meatiness and spiciness of the Syrah. Enjoy this wine now with a few hour decant or over the next 10-15 years. Highly recommended.”

2019 PÁŠXA RIVER ROCK VINEYARD GRENACHE

“The 2019 Grenache River Rock Vineyard has an incredibly spicy, herbal, cedary, and peppery style as well as medium to full-bodied richness, ripe, polished tannins, terrific balance, and a great finish. It doesn’t quite have the density of the 2018, but it’s certainly more up-front and perfumed. It’s another exotic, singular expression of Grenache that’s well worth seeking out. ”

“Pasxa  is a project to watch. Their first releases in 2018 were absolutely phenomenal, and this 2019 is even better. This Grenache from the River Rock Vineyard in The Rocks District takes on some of the terroir with a nose of wild strawberry fruit leather, crushed wet gravel, green olive, crème d’anglais, fresh cedar and some spicy herbal characteristics. I literally sat and enjoyed the nose on this wine for over an hour. The palate brings impressive flavors of fresh wild strawberry, red cherry, white pepper, fresh thyme and brown dried mushroom. The finish seriously extends for several minutes and begs you for more. My only wish is that I had another bottle of this to take to France next week so I could open it up in a beautiful park overlooking the Eiffel Tower and enjoy it with some French cheese and a freshly baked baguette – I would drink the entire bottle by myself. Highly recommended. ”

2019 PÁŠXA SJR VINEYARD SYRAH

“The 2019 Syrah SJR Vineyard offers a Saint-Joseph-like nose (I always seem to find a Northern Rhône style in wines from this vineyard) of violets, black and blue fruits, crushed stone, pepper, and flowers. Gorgeous on the palate and full-bodied, with ripe tannins and a solid sense of freshness and purity. “

“Deep purple in the glass, this phenomenal Syrah from the SJR Vineyard in The Rocks District is expertly crafted by winemaker Todd Alexander in his sophomore release of the Pasxa lineup of wines. Over delivering on the nose with aromas of blackberry, black-peppered salami, dusty gravel road, dried purple flower petals and a hint of dark chocolate. Meaty notes of smoked pork ribs and crushed black peppercorn are the first to register on the palate followed by an explosion of boysenberry and dried crushed field herbs. It’s medium to full bodied, with ripe tannins and a silky, beautiful finish. Highly recommended.”

2020 PÁŠXA ROCKGARDEN ESTATE VINEYARD WHITE BLEND

“The first white wine to come from the new Pasxa project with grapes coming from the Rockgarden Estate Vineyard of The Rocks District. A blend of Marsanne and Roussanne shows golden yellow in the glass and pops with yummy aromas of ripe orchard peach, quince, honeycomb, yellow buttercup flowers and blanched almonds. The mouthfeel is full, rich and a tad oily, in a beautifully structured way that dances on the tongue and delivers an absolutely impressive finish with some added caramelized pineapple flavors and savory dried herb notes that appear at the back of the palate. The best winemakers are absolutely crushing it with Marsanne in Washington and Todd has knocked it out of the park with this effort. Highly recommended.”
